From the Los Alamos Daily Post:
Petree Garden Center is opening just in time for spring. Located in the former De Colores Restaurant at 2470 East Road, the Garden Center will hold its grand opening 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 7.
“We’re now bringing in trees and cold hard plants,” General manager Laurel Hardin says. “For the opening, we’ll have pansies and dianthis flowers that can take some cold weather.”
Hardin is a co-owner of the Los Alamos location. She is partnering with Petree Greenhouse and Nursery in Taos, which was founded in 1988 and has 10 greenhouses and 40 acres of growing space.
“We’ve been doing this for a long time and we know what works,” Hardin says. “We are a grower and that’s what sets apart. We grow and select our plants for high elevation. If you chose it from us, it’s going to grow here.”
