Independent garden centers around the country adorn their stores with stunning holiday displays and decorations each year, and to showcase some of that great work, Garden Center magazine hosted a holiday display photo contest in December.
We received more than 40 creative, beautiful and even humorous entries from businesses big and small in Washington, Tennessee, Virginia, Illinois, Georgia, Missouri, Florida, New York, Ohio, South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, South Carolina and Massachusetts. We shared the photos in an album where Facebook fans had the opportunity to “like” some of their favorites and sway the panel of eight judges from Garden Center magazine and its sister publications from GIE Media. It wasn’t easy to choose the winners among such a strong group of entries, but votes have been tallied, and here are the results:
Best Overall Display
Moore and Moore Garden Center in Nashville, Tennessee, Entry 1
Second Place
Moore and Moore Garden Center in Nashville, Tennessee, Entry 22
Third Place
Autumn Hill Nursery and Landscaping in Woodstock, Georgia, Entry 4
Best Christmas Tree
Blue Ribbon Nursery & Landscaping in Broadway, Virginia, Entry 28
Best Non-traditional Display
Flamingo Road Nursery and Farmers Market in Davie, Florida, Entry 32
Judges' Pick
Bemis Farms Nursery in Spencer, Massachusetts, Entry 39
Facebook fan pick (most likes)
Blue Ribbon Nursery and Landscaping in Broadway, Virginia, Entry 28, with 36 likes.
Congratulations to all of the winners and a special shout-out to Moore and Moore Garden Center, which won both first and second place in the Best Overall Display category. Thank you to all who participated with photos and “likes,” and have a very happy and safe holiday season!
