Pike Nurseries, a 2020 Top 100 Independent Garden Center, is encouraging children and their families to get outside and play in the dirt. Experts at Pike Nurseries are helping parents keep kids entertained with fun, educational lessons, crafts and garden projects in the Kids’ Corner.

Crafts
Encouraging children to get creative while immersing them in their gardens is a great way to help little minds bloom! Crafts such as painting Ladybug Rocks and creating breathtaking paintings with flowers and foliage help teach children about gardening; develop tactile and visual awareness; and build motor skills with an environmental twist. Other DIY garden-inspired projects, including upcycling milk cartons into bird feeders, are the perfect way to enhance kids’ knowledge in an interactive and enjoyable, yet educational, fashion.

Lessons
With more time spent outside in the summer months, kids get inquisitive about nature and what they’re seeing. Lesson plans from Pike Nurseries help foster curiosity into knowledge by explaining scientific concepts in a kid-friendly way while meeting statewide educational standards. Free-to-download activity sheets supplement the topics by intertwining activities like coloring and trivia!

Adventures
Summer learning doesn’t require a classroom! Pike Nurseries’ scavenger hunts teach kids all about observation from their backyards to their neighborhoods. Spending time gardening or playing bird bingo are other flexible activities to stay engaged outdoors and build a passion for nature.
