Western Nursery & Landscape Association offers two new webinars

The Western Nursery & Landscape Association (WNLA) has two upcoming webinars: Designing a Neighborhood-Friendly Landscape on July 25 and Inventory Management on August 8.

Non-members are invited to join the webinars for $50 or join WNLA for $75 and take advantage of this webinar, as well as upcoming and recorded webinars.

Both webinars will begin at noon, allowing you to create a lunch and learn session in your office.

In Designing a Neighborhood-Friendly Landscape, Benjamin Vogt will discuss how you approach creating a highly-visible landscape that's full of "wild" native plants. He will also talk about what strategies you can use to make it visually appealing and cohesive to the neighbors, yet full of wildlife habitat and ecologically connected to the natural world around it, and you learn from his experience getting a notice from county weed control.

Benjamin Vogt owns Monarch Gardens LLC, a prairie garden design firm in Nebraska. He is the author of A New Garden Ethic: Cultivating Defiant Compassion for an Uncertain Future, and for over six years has written an award-winning column for Houzz.com. He also speaks nationally on sustainable design for wildlife and landscape ethics. Benjamin has a doctorate from the University of Nebraska and lives in Lincoln with his family.

In Inventory Management, Sid Raisch will help you gain a clearer perspective on inventory. Sid says, “Inventory is inherently evil in that without tightly defined and rigorous management and manipulation it always becomes a problem. It must be curated, purchased, valued, edited, displayed, signed, priced, maintained, moved, paid for, financed, marked down, and well … what did I miss? We could probably apply a dozen or so other words.”

Sid Raisch is a consultant and advocate for family owned and operated small businesses. He currently serves as a consultant to The Garden Center Group and is President/CEO of Bower & Branch. Raisch has been inventing and reinventing the way things don’t get done into “get it done” strategies that increase profitability, marketability, operability, and owner-ability of garden centers, landscape operations and a few suppliers of plants and products. Raisch has dedicated 38 years to improving and re-inventing the interdependent supply chain. He helps people get things done by overcoming underlying attitudes, fears and lacking resources.
