We’re all familiar with the up-and-coming Millennial generation that is replacing Generation X as the dominant young adult demographic. Businesses of every stripe are attempting to market to Millennials, including many garden center retailers. But what about the next group, which is already starting to add its voice to the collective culture of North American commerce and society?
Known as “Generation Z” (following Generation Y a.k.a. Millennials), these 12- to-24-year-olds are approaching the digital landscape in dramatically different ways compared to their parents and grandparents. Members of Gen Z greatly value personal uniqueness, individual expression and are engaged in online socializing to a considerable degree.
