American Home Furnishings Alliance polled consumers earlier this year to discover which outdoor furniture styles are most favored.
“Rustic mountain retreat” was the top theme, selected by 36 percent of those surveyed. “coastal casual” came in second with 21 percent, followed by “garden sanctuary” (19 percent), “posh poolside” (14 percent) and “metro mod” (5 percent).
The “rustic mountain retreat” theme includes wrought iron or wood furniture that’s sturdy and weather resistant. “Coastal casual” encompasses wicker, wood and aluminum furniture and fabrics in bright, sunny colors. Wrought iron and classic teak are used to create the “garden sanctuary” look. “Posh poolside” includes sleek, stackable sling chairs and cushioned lounges. Cozy cafe tables and balcony-height seats are used to create the “metro mod” look.
