BUELLTON, Calif. – Dec. 3, 2013 – Six well-known breeders in the horticulture industry announced today plans for a joint-venture varieties display the 2014 California Spring Trials at Windmill Nursery in Buellton, Calif. This partnership will include Westhoff, Beekenkamp, Skagit Gardens, PAC-Elsner, Terra Nova Nurseries, and Plug Connection.
Spring Trials at Windmill Nursery will be open Sunday, April 6 to Wednesday, April 9, 2014, and will be a launching ground for new plant varieties; signage and packaging products; and merchandising programs and concepts.
Skagit Gardens is a young plant producer and finisher known for its extensive line of hellebores. The company will showcase new selections of hellebores from the Heuger Gold Collection, along with the debut of several new long-blooming perennials and an encore performance by the compact helenium, appropriately named ‘Short n Sassy’!
PAC-Elsner, a German breeding company that specializes in plant and cutting distribution, laboratory, breeding, and growing, will also be showcasing its new 2014 varieties to growers and other attendees.
The Vista, Calif.-based Plug Connection has a complete assortment that makes them a primary supplier for many of the West’s best growers. Presenting Mighty ‘Mato, Mesa Magic Cyclamen and Certified Organic Veggies and Herbs.
German-based company, Westhoff, specializes in volume crops specifically bred for high-density production and reliability. Its new breeding in lobelia, calibrachoa and others consistently garners positive attention among the company’s grower customers.
Beekenkamp, a noted European begonia powerhouse, dahlia specialist and upcoming poinsettia breeder, will showcase its best-selling varieties along with several new varieties for the North American market.
