Mahoney’s Garden Center was presented a certificate by the Massachusetts Assistant Commissioner of Agriculture in May for its leadership in the industry, according to the Cape Cod Times.
The certificate was in honor of Plant Something Day, a state-supported project of the Massachusetts Flower Growers Association and the Massachusetts Nursery and Landscape Association.
“Plant Something Day is a great opportunity for individuals and families to enjoy the spring weather outdoors and plant something to beautify their communities and help the environment,” Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources Commissioner John Lebeaux said in a statement. “Providing students across the Commonwealth with the opportunity to experience the benefits of planting at a young age helps to ensure that the Massachusetts agricultural industry remains vibrant and productive. We are proud to partner with Massachusetts’ flower and nursery growers during Plant Something Day.”
Mahoney’s has eight retail locations in Massachusetts, including its first location in Winchester, which opened in 1959.
