Activant Solutions, a technology provider of ERP and point-of-sale software serving mid-market retailers and distributors, will be acquired by Apax Partners.
Activant is currently owned by investment funds affiliated with Hellman & Friedmann, Thoma Bravo, management and JMI Equity.
Apax also announced that funds advised by Apax will acquire Epicor Software Corporation. Apax intends to combine Activant with Epicor. Following the merger, the combined company will be called Epicor Software Corporation.
Pervez Qureshi, Activant president and CEO, said combining Activant and Epicor will allow the businesses to cover the full spectrum of retailing. Additionally, Epicor’s worldwide infrastructure will give Activant the opportunity to service and support their products internationally, he said.
All of Activant’s outstanding shares and stock options will be acquired for cash.
