America in Bloom to showcase display garden at Philadelphia Flower Show

The garden will honor AIB participants at the show from Feb. 27 to March 8.

For the fourth consecutive year, America in Bloom (AIB) will a have display garden at the Philadelphia Flower Show. Held from February 27 to March 8 in Philadelphia, show promoters of the Philadelphia Flower Show call it the largest, oldest and most prestigious in the country. This year’s theme, "Celebrating the Movies," aligns movies and horticulture, according to a press release from AIB.

AIB’s display garden coordinators, board member Evelyn Alemanni and Delilah Onofrey, one of AIB’s founders, partnered with Proven Winners, Spring Meadow Nursery, and Schubert Nursery to supply plants to support the theme. Braun Horticulture, Eckert’s Greenhouse and Gardener’s Supply also provided materials for use in the garden. Display designers from Longwood Gardens, Jim Sutton and Trilbey Smith developed the garden’s design as a gift to America in Bloom.

Alemanni commented, “We are thrilled and grateful to be working with Longwood’s top designers again this year. Our display garden is filled with stars. Starring roles are played by beautiful flowering plants including nemesia, lobularia, deutzia, and reblooming azaleas.  A 'walk of fame' honors the America in Bloom participants who have achieved “Circle of Champions” status. Stars throughout the garden will feature names of all America in Bloom participants, honoring the efforts of cities, volunteer, and businesses who work together to make their towns a great place to live, work and play.”

AIB judges Katy Moss Warner, Evelyn Alemanni, Jim Sutton and Barbara Vincentsen will also serve as flower show judges.
