Rudbeckia ‘TigerEye Gold’ (pictured) was named the most popular flower in the American Garden Award competition. Six competing flowers were grown at 17 gardens across America. Signage at these gardens guided people through the voting process. Garden visitors picked their favorites by text messaging or by dialing an 800 number to cast their vote.
Petunia ‘Baby Duck Yellow’ came in second, followed by pentas ‘Northern Lights Lavender’ in third place. The American Garden Award is the first national competition that allows the public to vote for their favorite flower.
