The American Horticultural Society is releasing two books: Essential Guide to Organic Vegetable Gardening, and Essential Guide to Perennial Gardening.
The organic vegetable gardening book features techniques and know-how for planning, planting and tending a home vegetable garden organically, with designs for lower maintenance, select resilient varieties, how to improve yields by building soil health, how to increase pollination rates and how to create a productive and attractive space.
The perennial gardening book features techniques and know-how for planning, planting and tending low-maintenance perennial plantings, with more than 150 plant profiles, including many North American natives; advice for using perennials in the landscape; simple strategies for more blooms; and practical advice on pinching, pruning, deadheading, staking and dividing.
These mark the first new books from the American Horticultural Society in more than two decades.
Both books are 272-page paperbacks from Cool Springs Press that retail for $28.99. The organic vegetable gardening book publishes Jan. 7, and the perennial gardening book publishes Feb. 4.
