American Takii launches new website

Salinas, Calif. — American Takii’s new website, www.takii.com, has been developed as a comprehensive industry resource for both vegetable and flower seed buyers. Initial research on what users most wanted to find on the new website indicated that technical information on Takii varieties was overwhelmingly the first priority for both user groups. Consequentially, almost every variety has its own tech sheet with specific cultural information. All the vegetable varieties are grouped by crop category: fruit, leafy, root and Asian vegetables. Flowers are grouped by bedding & pot, cut flowers and grasses, sedges & rushes.

Takii is known for breeding a wide range of products including Trailblazer Onion, “Cheers” Cabbage along with Sunrich Helianthus and Cannova F1 Canna. With the launch of the new site, visitors will find hi-res, downloadable photos of featured flower varieties and a new section on vegetable rootstocks. The site includes PDFs of almost all their catalogs.

Other features include a complete list of vegetable seed dealers, organized by region, and the brokers who sell the flower seed, all with contact information. Visitors to the site will find bios of both management, vegetable and flowers sales teams.

The Resource page includes industry trade associations and sources for growing information and scientific research.

The 180th anniversary celebration in Salinas last October was documented on a video posted in the Press Room page. General Manager/COO Steve Wiley is also recorded on video talking about the new seed processing facility on the company’s Salinas, Calif., property. There is even a little eye candy — amazing videos of the opening of a new entrance at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam featuring 125,000 Takii Sunrich sunflowers.
