Stacy’s Greenhouses named 1,000th Burpee Certified Grower

South Carolina-based company joins others certified by Burpee Home Gardens.

Burpee Home Gardens announced that with the induction of Stacy’s Greenhouses, it has certified 1,000 growers in its growers program.

Burpee started certifying growers in 2009, according to Diane Hund, director of marketing for Burpee Home Gardens.

“Growers wishing to participate in the Burpee Home Gardens program first agree to the Burpee Grower Guidelines and Grower Agreement, which states they will commit to delivering a quality product to retail that includes a Burpee Home Gardens branded pot and tag,” Hund said, describing the process of becoming a certified grower. “They ensure standards are maintained, so that the products produced and sold at retail enhance the equity of the Burpee Home Gardens brand.”

Certified growers receive marketing support, including free point-of-purchase materials to help merchandize the brand to their customers. They also get word about exclusive varieties and programs such as Bumper Crop Grated Tomatoes and flowers such as Begonia Sparks Will Fly.

“[They] also benefit from our complete consumer and media outreach campaigns, which gets Burpee Home Gardens noticed in print publications, online and on TV,” Hund said.

“Our sales force is also committed to making Burpee’s Certified Growers a success by hosting webinars, making store visits, sending info newsletters and more.”

Stacy’s Greenhouses, based in York, S.C., will also join the certified growers listed in Burpee’s “Find A Grower” index, where retail stores and franchises can locate nearby plant suppliers.
