Last but not least on our 2017 California Spring Trials journey was Headstart Nursery, where Danziger and Varinova were exhibiting. Part of Danziger’s overall strategy is to reduce or eliminate PGR use in its program and breed for more compact, controlled habits. One featured plant that has this attribute and stood out to attendees was the new Pazzaz Nano portulaca series, which has unusually vibrant, large blooms and comes in four colors.
Attendees could see existing and new cyclamen series for the North American market at Headstart Nursery’s trials. Varinova highlighted two recently released series and one that will be available for 2018/2019, and explained why Goblet, with an unusual flower form, has been such a hit with landscapers since its release.
