The Mustard Seed Landscaping & Garden Center recently was given the 2011 "Friend of the Environment" award by the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association. Given all the company has done to be earth friendly since its inception eight years ago, you might call the choice a no-brainer.
For starters, there was the start, when construction on the facility in 2003 used the most advanced technologies in energy efficiency. Then there is The Mustard Seed's dedication to community education. And you can't forget that the company was the first garden center in Minnesota to install a wind turbine that will supply all of its electrical needs. Obviously owner Mark Halla has placed a premium on environmental stewardship that is paying off on a number of levels,
Yes, The Mustard Seed is a friend of the environment. It's also a friend of the customer. And that's a relationship that stands to bring some "Cha-ching!"
