36th Street Garden Center & Bistro in Boise, Idaho, has found a good hook to draw customers during typically slower times.
Throughout December and January, the garden center provides complimentary container planting. If customers purchase plants and soil at the store, they can bring a container from home or purchase from the garden center's wide assortment of pots and containers, and the 36th Street Garden Center staff will plant them up at no charge. And added bonus: Design consultation is included.
The program works on several levels. Certainly, it serves to boost winter sales. And it creates or enhances customer relationships. Mainly, though, it ensures people come into the store, and when they do, the staff knows they'll be enchanted by one of the better shopping destinations in the region. That 1+1+1=plenty of potential for "Cha-ching!"
