For the 12th year, Hicks Nurseries in Westbury, N.Y., is raising money for the Meghan’s Pansies Breast Cancer Fund. Throughout April, for each specially marked pansy six-pack that is sold, 15 cents will be donated to the fund, which is administered by the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program to educate young women and men about breast cancer.
Meghan’s Pansies is a special fund established in memory of Meghan Kenny Halloran, a Garden City, N.Y., resident who succumbed to breast cancer at age 31.
Hicks Nurseries has long been partial to philanthropy, and this venture has a meaningful local implication that resonates with residents in the Westbury region. It serves as both a branding element (customers and potential customers see Hicks Nurseries' staff's heart, which means is one of the best brands around) and a means to bond with people in the region on an important cause that has touched many of them.
