Looking for ways to capitalize on the edibles craze that is sweeping the nation? Hoerr Nursery in Peoria, Ill., has slated not one but two seminars on the topic during the April 16 Spring Celebration event it uses to kick off the season.
The first class, "Growing Incredible Edibles," is pretty much the standard fare you see in education programs all around -- and a sound means to encourage those customers wanting to dip a toe in that water. The second seminar, though, has "Cha-ching!" written all over it.
In a session titled "Growing Your Own Smoothies (Kind of)," guest speaker and chef Bill Moore will demonstrate how to turn homegrown fruits (blueberries, raspberries, grapes and more) into delicious smoothies. The staff at Hoerr Nursery notes that "sampling is encouraged!"
This kind of seminar is a great way to go beyond the "same old, same old" and bring a new dynamic to a marketing package. In fact, you could call it "sweet."
