The staff as Al’s Garden Center knows that one of the better ways to plant a seed for the future is ... well ... to plant a seed in the future.
Al's supports local children’s educational programs around its three Oregon locations by supplying plants for their projects. The philanthropic endeavor serves a variety of purposes, not the least of which is growing future gardeners and instilling an understanding and respect for the role plants play in our lives. It also helps the retailer, which was voted Garden Center of the Year in 2006 by Garden Centers of America, connect with its community.
To that end, Al's Garden Center also contributes vegetable starts to local Senior Centers, helping its elderly neighbors grow and enjoy fresh produce. In addition, Al’s employees participate in events at local hospitals, helping create peaceful gardens and a place of healing for those who are sick.
Clearly, community involvement is a major part of the Al's Garden Center dynamic, one that pays dividends in may ways (including in the one that goes by "Cha-ching!)
