Sargent's Gardens in Rochester, Minn., is committed to helping kids get out and enjoy the great outdoors through gardening. The company strives to provide a kid-friendly shopping experience along with quality children's programs for youngsters.
"Wee Wednesdays" at Sargent's are gardening-related classes for preschool and kindergarten-aged children. Each Wee Wednesday class has a 9:30 and 10:30 session (March - December). The classes include hands-on activities, a story, and a tasty treat. An $8 class fee covers supplies and snack. Additional siblings are $4 each.
The garden center asks parents to stay with their children, so it's a complete family experience -- not to mention an opportunity to turn what the children learn into (initially) a hobby and (ultimately) a lifestyle.
Either way, Sargent's Gardens stands to benefit as much as the kids do. Cha-ching!
