Peg Castorani, who along with husband Steve owns Gateway Garden Center in Hockessin, Del., is one of the country’s foremost authorities on water gardening.
These days, though, she is better known as "The Great Fixer."
“I used to help people build their dream water gardens,” she said. “But as the business has changed I find myself spending most of my time fixing people’s garden nightmares. With the rise of do-it-yourself kits and installations by landscapers who aren’t experts in water gardens, we see more and more water garden disasters.”
Consequently, Peg sees more and more opportunities to show her expertise and in turn to win customers, who no doubt appreciate the fact that her solutions work where their's failed.
The moral of this story: If you want it done right, DON'T do it yourself. And by proving that point Peg Castorani and Gateway Garden Center have realized more than a little "Cha-ching!"
