One way to brand a store is to make sure there's enough going on keep your name "out there" with customers. Wallace's Garden Center, with locations in Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa, certainly offers a proverbial smorgasbord.
Assistant store manager Kate Terrell almost had to pause for a breath as she outlined some of the things she's involved with at Wallace's. There's the e-mail newsletter and the website, which is refreshed regularly. There's the company Facebook page and the oil recycling program, where customers bring old oil from their vehicles that is converted into fuel to heat the company's greenhouses.
There's "The Garden Minute" (Terrell's TV spot where she shows viewers a new gardening tip every Saturday ). There's the store’s Fall Festival and Spring and Holiday Open Houses. There's the weekly garden seminars in winter and spring. There's the seasonal morning radio segment, and an occasional television appearance during which Wallace gets to tout what's going on at the garden center.
Bottom line: There's a lot of "there's" there. As a result, there's a lot of Cha-ching! there, as well.
