MD Nursery & Landscaping in Driggs, Idaho, does something that helps its customers and helps its image with them, to boot. The business has a display in the plant yard dedicated to “staff picks.”
The management team created and passed around an employee questionnaire asking what their favorite trees, shrubs and perennials are -- and why. Then staffers took photos of everyone holding a water can, printed and laminated the photos and attached them to a stake. They then staked each respective staff member's photo with the plants they chose, along with a sign extolling the virtues of the plant.
"It’s a good mid season “motivator” for the employees because they get to give their input in a fun way," said MD Nursery & Landscaping spokesperson Carrie Baysek, who added that the employees take notice of different plants their co-workers like. Meanwhile, customers take notice, too, and wind up bonding with a staff that helps them better their gardening skills.
That's win/win/win. Or, as we prefer to refer to it, that's "Cha-ching!"
