Bob's Garden Center in Egg Harbor Township, N.J., has added a new "Collectibles" category to its product inventory as it tries to tap and generate interest in "those special somethings" that customers can find at the store proper and in the store's online catalog.
There's an array of quaint items that can decorate and enliven a home any time, but Bob's is really in its element with holiday offerings that give Halloween and Christmas shoppers new options to consider every time they pay a visit to the store or check in on the company website.
By nature, collectibles can be a retailer's dream; one purchase leads to buying a set, then a set becomes an ensemble and an ensemble evolves into a collection. It's one inventory category that almost invariably spurs multiple purchases.
And that is what "Cha-ching!" is all about.
