Parents at the Boulder, Colo.-based Columbine Elementary raised $30,000 over a five-year span to build a greenhouse for students.
According to the Daily Camera, the greenhouse will be used to grow veggies and flowers. The school already has outdoor garden beds. Adding the greenhouse will extend the school's growing season and give teachers a bigger window to teach agriculture.
The Daily Camera reports that, "A team of about 30 parents and community members, plus two supervisors from the greenhouse company, spent four days earlier this month (March) building the greenhouse, and an open house was (held) Friday."
The greenhouse is a 33-foot-diameter geodesic dome — the shape is created by triangles — from a company called Growing Spaces.
