I thought I’d mix things up a little this month and feature a recipe for a planter from Fischer
This Mountain Glory planter is a grower-friendly combination with a simple design containing two plants that grow well together. It’s easy to assemble. For small- to medium-sized (10-14 inches) containers, place a single Sassy White argyranthemum in the center and space three to four Techno Blue lobelias around the outer rim. For large pots (16-24 inches), plant two Sassy White in the center and evenly space four to five Techno Blue on the outer rim and let the plants fill in.
The Sassy series was bred for a dense, mounded growth habit that produces a strong, multibranched plant. Plants reach 12-14 inches tall and wide. A soft pinch will encourage basal branching. A hard pinch may delay flowering. From rooted cuttings to finish for 12-inch baskets takes 11-13 weeks.
The Techno series was engineered to be early flowering on well-branched, trailing plants that produce full baskets. Plants reach 8-10 inches tall with a trailing habit. Final width is 20-24 inches. Pinching is recommended to encourage basal branching. Pinch plants 10-14 days after transplanting. From rooted cuttings to finish for 12-inch baskets takes 11-12 weeks.
The Sassy and Techno series are high-light plants. They are bred to be naturally compact, so growth regulators shouldn’t be needed.
