Cornell reveals top early-season plants from 2007 trials

 

Cornell University identified the best early-season plants from its 2007 Long Island Annual Trial. Plants were evaluated for flower quality, foliage quality, uniformity and overall impact.

Early-season winners were: Angelonia ‘AngelMist Lavender Bicolor’; calibrachoa ‘Callie Bright Red,’ ‘Callie Deep Yellow,’ ‘Callie Painted Coral’ and ‘Superbells Scarlet’; dahlia ‘Delicious Marshmallow Improved’; lantana ‘Luscious Lemonade’; petunia ‘Jamboree Light Blue,’ ‘Littletunia Pink,’ ‘Littletunia Purple,’ ‘Littletunia Violet,’ ‘Mystic Dark Pink,’ ‘Saguna Midnight Blue’ and ‘Whispers Blue Amethyst’; scaevola ‘Bombay Blue’; coleus ‘Velvet Mocha’; sutera ‘Abunda Colossal White’; and verbena ‘Donalena Crimson Imp.,’ ‘Donalena Pink Heart’ and ‘Escapade Bright Eye.’

Some early-season consumer favorites were: Calitunia ‘Purple’; angelonia ‘Alonia White’; calibrachoa Superbells Dreamsicle; diascia ‘Darla Rose 08’; lobelia ‘Techno Blue’; osteospermum ‘Tradewinds Deep Purple’; petunia ‘Jamboree Light Blue’ and ‘Saguna Deep Purple’; salvia ‘Sallyfun Blue’; and verbena ‘Lanai Royal Purple with Eye.’
