Dirr to unveil new iPhone app at the 2011 National Green Centre

Timber Press announces the release of noted plantsman's Tree and Shrub Finder app

Dr. Michael A. Dirr will unveil his Tree and Shrub Finder iPhone app at the 2011 National Green Centre, Jan. 9-10 in St. Louis, Mo.

Show goers can see it on the runway of the Sweet Melissa Fashion Show featuring the trendier new plants (and iPhone apps!) in horticulture.

Based on Dirr’s classic work, "The Manual of Woody Landscape Plants," Dirr’s Tree and Shrub Finder (Timber Press, Dec. 2010, $9.99) offers the latest and most reliable information on woody landscape plants for the landscape professional and the home gardener alike in an inexpensive and accessible format. Ideal for landscape designers, horticulture professionals, students, and plant enthusiasts, the app includes over 9,400 woody plants, 72 search criteria, 7,600 beautiful, high-resolution, full-color photos and more than 1,120 line drawings.

In addition to unveiling his iPhone app, Dirr will lead his third biennial colloquium, called "The Education of Gardeners: How to Promote, Market, Sell and Educate," and he will conduct a plant walk at the Missouri Botanical Garden. He will also present a keynote address on "Making Sense of the New Plant Clutter: Strategies for Successfully Marketing Trees and Shrubs," in addition to leading two panel discussions, one on Growers’ Branding Strategies and one on Horticulture in 2060.

Join independent garden center owners, landscape contractors, landscape architects and designers, growers, and other green industry professionals as the industry gathers at the 2011 National Green Centre, the "next generation" green industry event.
