Two additions were made this year to the EarthKind Rose Program: Madame Antoine Mari and New Dawn. The program is managed by the Texas Cooperative Extension.
Madame Antoine Mari features pink and cream, double flowers. The plant has plum-colored canes with light-green leaves and thorns. Madame Antoine Mari grows well as a specimen plant or in a container. This fragrant, antique tea rose is hardy in USDA Hardiness Zones 7-9. It grows up to 6 feet high and wide.
New Dawn roses have double pink, fragrant flowers that fade to soft pink. It flowers in spring and repeats in the summer. This climbing selection grows up to 20 feet high and 10 feet wide. It’s hardy in Zones 4a-9a.
Earth Kind Roses have been through rigorous statewide testing and possess a high level of landscape performance, and outstanding disease and insect tolerance/resistance. Earth Kind Roses grow well in almost any soil type.
