While travelling in Australia, Ecke Ranch international product manager and technical support representative Jack Williams died of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), according to an autopsy performed in Australia. Initial reports that Williams died of a heart attack were incorrect.
Williams was 54. He had been with Ecke since 1984. Williams had world-wide experience with production systems for poinsettias, flowering bedding and potted plants.
Williams had served on the OFA board of directors and had been the chair and co-chair of the association’s grower committee, which is instrumental in developing the grower program for the OFA Short Course.
Williams is survived by his wife Cheryl and children Bethany and Stephen in Enciniats, Calif.
