Wilsonville, Ore. - The 2016 Farwest Show, Aug. 25-27, in Portland, OR, is rolling out the welcome mat for GWA: The Association for Garden Writers with a line up of special offers and events at this year’s show. Farwest is designating Friday, Aug. 26 as Garden Writers Day. In addition, GWA members will have special access to the Expo trade show, education sessions and other networking events. Extending a welcoming hand is Farwest’s acknowledgement and appreciation of the key role garden writers play in the promoting the industry and educating the public.
Garden Writers Day, scheduled for Friday, Aug. 26, features a line-up of activities and events, culminating in the GWA Connect meeting following the Expo trade show. GWA Connect meets immediately following the show at 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Gather Food & Drink (new location) in the Doubletree Hotel Portland, 1000 NE Multnomah St, Portland, Ore. 97232, a few blocks from the convention center. Friday events include ‘Social Media & Digital Communication Learning Exchange,’ a free seminar presented by a GWA panel. The panel experts will guide attendees on how to start connecting with customers digitally, making the most of e-newsletters, using post-worthy pictures, and more. They will touch on key components of social media marketing, including blogging, photography, and writing. The seminar takes place on Friday, Aug. 26, in Room B115-116, at 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m..
GWA will have a booth on the Expo floor to facilitate connections with growers, garden centers and others who can benefit from GWA services.
