Flower shops across the U.S. may face Valentine's Day shortages

Roses and other floral offerings may be in tight supply for the 2022 holiday, as florists and garden centers contend with ongoing supply chain shortages.

According to the Denver7 News, garden centers and florists may be up against flower shortages this Valentine’s Day. According to Denver7, shortages impacted several West Coast businesses last Mother’s Day. However, Seth Goldman, CEO of Urban Stems (who spoke to CNN Business), quoted the following: “I don't think it will be as acute as it was for Mother's Day." While it might be a relief for some business owners to hear, Goldman also predicted that prices would be higher due to employee shortages and other supply chain issues.

Per Heartland news station KFVS12, florists across the Midwest have already reported shortages ahead of the upcoming holiday. Several florists have cited rising price increases and a limited supply of flowers, much like shops located on the West Coast. But, like Denver7 News, the outlet also reported that rose supply is tight. And, even if retailers are lucky to snag a shipment, they’ve also come with a higher price tag.
