Garden centers around the country are organizing food drives, collecting donations and participating in other charitable work this holiday season and throughout the year.
Logan Trading Company in Raleigh, N.C., has collected nearly 20,000 pounds of produce this year for hunger relief organizations as part of the national Plant a Row for the Hungry program.
Logan’s has already surpassed the amount of produce gathered last year – more than 16,600 pounds – according to its website.
Sugar Creek Garden Center in Fort Mill, S.C., donated a Christmas tree to a family in need, according to Sugar Creek's facebook page.
And Ploch's & Strawberry Blossom Home & Garden Center in Wayne, N.J., is working with the Integrated Service Group to collect food and toys for those affected by Hurricane Sandy, according to the garden center's Facebook page.
