GWA 69th Annual Conference & Expo registration opens

NEW YORK – GWA: The Association of Garden Communicators is heading to Buffalo, N.Y., home of the garden walk, for its 69th Annual Conference & Expo, which is taking place August 4-7. The conference will feature an exciting schedule packed with events and experiences for attendees, including beautiful garden tours, engaging education sessions and essential networking.

"GWA Annual Conference is a unique opportunity to connect, learn and grow from the best in the industry as well as tour fantastic local gardens," says Kirk R. Brown, GWA President. "I hope everyone who comes takes full advantage of all that this year's conference has to offer."

With 31 learning sessions covering horticulture, writing, technology, business and publishing, conference attendees will include professional communicators from across the green industry including book authors, bloggers, staff editors, syndicated columnists, freelance writers, photographers, speakers, landscape designers, television and radio personalities, consultants, and publishers.

"We are excited to welcome two very exciting guests as this year’s keynote speakers, New York residents Kevin Gaughan and Robin Kimmerer. Our hope is attendees will walk away from Buffalo inspired with a renewed passion for the green industry and a trove of fresh ideas and new stories,” says Brown.

To close out the conference, the GWA Awards & Honors Dinner on Mon., August 7 will recognize and celebrate both GWA Media Awards winners and GWA Honors, including our new GWA Green Medal Sustainability Award and Cynthia Westcott Scientific Writing Award. Additionally, GWA recognizes the next generation of garden communicators with student awards in the areas of writing, photography, digital media and broadcast media.

GWA invites you to come to Buffalo early and to stay late. Options for pre- and post-conference opportunities are available with additional registration. On August 4 and 5, join GWA Member and author, Mary-Kate Mackey, for a six-hour workshop addressing tips and techniques to help get your next writing project out the door. On August 8, attendees have the option for a half-day tour to see urban farms and rooftop gardens, or a full-day option to visit Niagara Falls, Niagara Falls Horticultural School, Botanical Gardens and more.
