Heartland Nursery and Garden Center in Kansas City, Missouri, has announced that the upcoming spring will be its final season of operation, and it will officially close June 30, 2026.
The business was founded in 1972 as Blue Ridge Gardens and rebranded in 2002 by owners Sherry and Pete Mistretta as Heartland Nursery and Garden Center.
“This decision was not made lightly,” the owners said in a news release. “After 54 years of growing alongside this community, we recognize that every season has its purpose. While this closing comes with gratitude and sadness, there is also excitement for what lies ahead.”
Heartland Nursery will operate at full capacity throughout its final spring season, with the same selection of perennials, annuals, vegetables, herbs and tropical plants. The team invites the community to visit the greenhouse and celebrate the season.
The business, buildings and real estate are being offered for sale. The property is located at 10300 View High Drive, Kansas City, Missouri, at the southwest corner of View High Drive and I-470, and encompasses almost 12 acres.
The offering includes a 53,000-square-foot enclosed greenhouse/retail space, approximately 26,000 square feet of outside area under glass and 24,000 square feet of open-air fenced yard area.
Those interested in learning more about the sale opportunity can contact Jeff Haney of HaneyCo KC at 816-289-0334 or jeff@haneycokc.com.

“As we approach this final season, we want to sincerely thank our customers, friends and partners for the trust, kindness and support you’ve shown us over the years,” the owners added. “So many relationships formed here go far beyond gardening, and we will deeply miss being part of your growing journeys.
