Hines Growers LLC is partnering with Breederplants, a leading breeder/grower consortium in The Netherlands, to introduce new proprietary plants from Europe to the United States and open European markets to the Bloomtastic! brand and Hines Growers' new proprietary genetics.
“This is an industry game-changer,” said Joe Gray, vice president of Hines Growers. “This partnership plugs Hines directly into small breeders all over Europe. The potential to feed huge collections of proprietary plants to the American consumer is enormous.”
Ronald Laman, director of Breederplants, agreed, saying the reciprocal alliance is a "first of its kind" in Europe.
“This exciting new concept makes it easier for European breeders to bring plants directly to a global market and grow retail demand faster,” Laman said.
The strategic alliance with Bloomtastic! plants provides U.S. and European growers and retailers a world-wide range of robust flowering plants from different breeders under one brand.
“It’s like a ‘super’ market for plants,” said Gray. “We’re tapping into dozens of breeders from all over the world who are offering the most exciting new varieties we can find.”
Laman said Breederplants will begin offering Bloomtastic! liners to the European market in 2013. Gray said the partnership ensures that gardeners throughout the U.S. and Europe will see exciting new introductions every year: “Gardeners want new plants that give plenty of color and abundant blooms and are low maintenance and easy to grow like our Bloomtastic! Buddleia -- no matter what country you live in.”
