Hines Nurseries LLC has notified the state of Oregon that it may lay off 56 workers by March, The Portland Business Journal reported.
The Irvine, Calif.-based company, which operates a nursery in Forest Grove, notified Forest Grove, Washington County and state officials of the impending layoffs. The company filed a WARN notice, or Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, on Jan. 6.
The company, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last October, said the layoffs are expected to occur between March 8 and March 22.
The company said it expects the separations from Hines to become permanent.
