Northern Innovators is offering the Klahanie hibiscus series.
Plants flower best under long days and high light and will bloom continuously. Plants reach 18-24 inches in pots and 5-6 feet tall in the landscape.
Many flower colors and bicolors are available. All flowers are very large.
Optimum growing temperature is 75°F days with 68°F nights. Low light and lower temperatures will cause fewer blooms and slower growth.
Series members include Maria Montessori and Nadine.
Crop time is approximately 20 weeks from unrooted cuttings. Plants prefer a consistently moist growing medium, although overwatering should be avoided.
Plants require one to two pinches. Plants should be pinched when roots reach the side of the pot and again when branching allows. Pinching can be repeated, if needed.
This series is very sensitive to growth regulators but Cycocel or Bonzi may be used if growth regulators are required once final height required is achieved.
