Marketplace Events found that 20 percent of people surveyed are planning to resume major home improvement projects that had been deterred by the economic downturn. Of those, nearly half planned on major landscaping or patio/deck projects.
"People are really focusing on their landscaping, their patios, their decks, outdoor kitchens are becoming huge," said Bruce Evans with the Minneapolis Home and Garden Show in an interview with KARE 11 news.
This means good news for garden centers as people will be looking to spend more on their homes.
"People are actually planning to spend more money on their homes," Evans said, adding that they're seeing impressive numbers at this year's home and garden event.
