Mission Hills Nursery, San Diego's oldest retail garden center, will celebrate its 100th year in business throughout the 2010 season.
Established in 1910 by Kate Sessions, recognized as the "Mother of Balboa Park," Mission Hills has set up a history corner where people can stop by and browse through books with old photos and stories about the store. Many of the company's customers came to the garden center as children and now bring their grandchildren to shop.
At the two inspirational locations customers can find practically everything for their gardens. Plants range from roses to shrubs, annuals to perennials, and Mission Hills prides itself for being "where the unusual is the usual."
