Azusa, Calif. – Monrovia, a grower of premium ornamental and landscaping plants in the United States, has been named one of the country’s top 500 e-commerce merchants, and number 11 in its primary merchandise category by Internet Retailer. A source for e-commerce research, Internet Retailer publishes the yearly Top 500 Database and Analysis Report.
Since launching in 2014, shop.monrovia.com, Monrovia’s e-commerce platform, has quadrupled its offerings to include approximately 3,000 varieties of plants. In 2017 the e-commerce site saw a 200 percent spike in sales as compared to 2016.
“Shopping online with Monrovia is easier than ever, and is highly customized for our users, who can search by their zip codes, eliminating the need to know plant zones. The ease of shopping from your own home, and the ability to select large plants—up to 10 gallons—that can be shipped to a local gardening center for pick-up, makes it a smart choice for busy gardeners,” said spokesperson Jonathan Pederson. “Garden centers also benefit from shop.monrovia.com in a profit-sharing arrangement."
In 2019, Monrovia plans to expand the product line available to consumers through shop.monrovia.com with new offerings, and expects several hundred new garden centers across the country to become delivery locations starting spring 2019.
