Capsicum annuum ‘Shu White to Red’ from Murakami Seed, is a variegated form that could be marketed as a holiday plant. It’s offered through Henry F. Michell Co.
The dwarf ornamental pepper is best suited for 4- or 5-inch pots. It grows 9 inches high and spreads 8 inches. No growth regulators are required.
Fruit starts off white, then matures to bright red. The plant is typically covered with 30-40 fruit at a time.
To produce from seed, cover seed with vermiculite and germinate at 68°F-77°F but not lower than 59°F. Germination takes four to seven days.
Daytime growing temperatures are 77°F-83°F, with slower growth lower than 59°F or higher than 90°F. Optimum nighttime temperature is 64°F. From plug to finished stage takes 11-16 weeks.
