Geum Totally Tangerine
With pollinators front and center in the media, growers and retailers have the chance to reach throngs of new gardeners, as well as stimulate sales of plants that attract and support bees, butterflies and hummingbirds.
PlantHaven offers several varieties that can be marketed and merchandised for pollinator gardens. Imagine the displays filled with dazzling color and intoxicating fragrance.
Pollinators will flock to PlantHaven’s Geum Totally Tangerine, Gaillardia ‘Fanfare Citronella’ and Dahlia Mystic Series.
Of course there is more to all of these varieties than their penchant to appeal to pollinators. These plants also fill the garden with color, providing consumers with double the bang for their buck.
Geum Totally Tangerine
Sprays of large bright apricot to tangerine orange single blooms flower from early summer through the heat of summer. Flower production is up to five times that of others in the genus.
The deep green, fuzzy foliage forms a compact mound which measures about 14 inches tall. In full bloom, the plants measure a whopping 30 inches tall. Totally Tangerine is hardy to USDA Hardiness Zone 4.
Gaillardia ‘Fanfare Citronella’
This gaillardia has unique pinwheel, bright-yellow flowers. It blooms throughout an exceptional long period with a compact mounding habit 21 inches by 16 inches.
It’s hardy to Zone 5.
Dahlia Mystic Series
These beauties are set apart from other Dahlia varieties by their fashionable filigreed deep mahogany to black foliage topped with vivid blooms. Unlike their forebears, they do not require staking. Topping off their instant appeal are masses of demure single flowers in superb colors.
The series features a compact clumping habit and grows up to 31 inches by 24 inches. Plants grow best in rich, moist soils in full sun.
