Pacific Plug and Liner earns VeriFlora certification

Sustainably grown plants will begin shipments immediately

Pacific Plug and Liner announced that beginning immediately all of the plants shipped to customers from the Watsonville, Calif., growing facilitiy will be certified sustainably grown by VeriFlora. The VeriFlora certification program is an independent, third party certification recognizing leadership practices in the horticulture industry.

Pacific Plug and Liner sought VeriFlora certification as confirmation of its steps to be accountable for the overall welfare of their employees, families, communities, the environment — and for their customers as well.

“We live and work in a wonderfully pristine part of California, and we felt that we needed to go through this process as part of our overall effort to raise our level of social responsibility,” said Ryan Hall, new product development and marketing manager at Pacific Plug and Liner. “It was our desire to take the steps necessary to mitigate any potential problems—and to do so before being told we had to.”

Ryan said that this has been only a six month process for the company since they found that many of the requirements were already incorporated in Pacific Plug and Liner’s day-to-day operations. Additionally, “we went to work on our infrastructure, improved our chemical storage system and we have now installed a process that allows us to monitor our runoff. Many of our current efforts — as well as our long-term goals — will help us lower our costs while conserving energy, therefore reducing our carbon footprint which benefits everyone involved.”

Pacific Plug and Liner has provided quality plugs and liners to the industry since 1999. The company offers a wide range of unique and diverse annual and perennial plants from around the world.
