Kentucky
Boone Gardiner Garden Center in Louisville has received the 2009 Agribusiness of the Year award from the Agribusiness Industry Network Inc., a local business organization focused on promoting the growth of the agribusiness community, Business First of Louisville reported.

Massachusetts
Mahoney’s is celebrating 50 years in the garden center business, BostonHerald.com reported. The key to 50 years of success is simple, said Thomas Mahoney, one of five siblings who operate the family-run company. “It’s all about hiring the right people,” he said. “You can have great products, but a great staff makes you successful.”

Ohio
Suncrest Gardens in Peninsula unveiled its Christmas 2010 theme: “Capture the Magic,” according to Akron.com. “We’re trying to capture the wide-eyed wonder of the holidays,” Rob Cowie director of operations said. “The whole store is decked out; it’s over the top.”

Pennsylvania
Stauffers of Kissel Hill, a chain of supermarkets and garden centers, was featured on “The Exuberant Accountant” blog. SKH joins the author’s list of “organizations that ‘get it.’”

Tennessee
Out of Eden Garden Center in Marysville celebrated its 10th anniversary this year, Blount Today reported. Gary and Julie Bridenbaugh created a 7-acre garden shop and landscape company on Hwy. 411 South, and continue to creatively mold their business to meet customers’ needs.

Texas
Calloway’s Nursery will provide supplies for customers to make Christmas cards to distribute to the U.S. troops during the company’s annual Christmas Open House event on Nov. 21 and Nov. 28. “It’s Christmastime, and we are gearing up for lots of family, fun and festivities. We hope families come out to select a freshly-cut tree and give thanks to the troops – on us!” Kimberly Bird, vice president of retail marketing said.
