This spring, Royal Van Zanten will roll out two new series of Anigozanthos (kangaroo paw) for the European market. The series will be available as an indoor potted plant, called Home Jewel, and a landscape plant, Garden Jewel. The company expects to launch a cut flower series in 2008. The Garden Jewel series was developed by Australian breeding company Ramm Botanicals, which is also working on the cut series.
The Home Jewel series has four Joey cultivars and the Garden Jewel series has eight Bush cultivars.
Anigozanthos features fans of sword-shaped leaves with fuzzy, velvetlike flowers.
The Home Jewel series is available in 4 1/2-inch to 5 1/2-inch pots. Plants reach up to 12 inches tall. Flower colors include yellow, red/green, orange/red and deep red. Royal Van Zanten will propagate the series at its tissue culture labs in
