Sakata left its mark on this year’s Annual Pumpkin Bash at Woodland Park Zoo. Sakata employees at the Burlington, Wash. office harvested four bins, or about 10,000 lbs. of pumpkins for this exciting family event at their local zoo.
The pumpkins were hand-delivered to the zoo on Oct. 16 for the weekend-long event held on Saturday and Sunday, October 24-25. The Woodland Park Zoo’s Annual Pumpkin Bash is a highly anticipated event by both human and animals that includes a range of family-friendly activities such as trick-or-treating, pumpkin feedings for the zoo animals, puppet shows, face painting and other games.
The donated pumpkins were used for animal feedings, toys for the animals, pumpkin carving, fall displays and activities for children attending the celebration. In exchange for Sakata’s donation, Woodland Park Zoo generously offered 25+ free zoo tickets to Sakata employees.
Sakata plans to continue this tradition at the Woodland Park Zoo next year and believes this to be the beginning of an exciting partnership with the local zoo to provide unused produce to animals and support the community.
