Scotts Miracle-Gro launched a promotional blitz this spring touting the environmental benefits of lawns. The campaign coincided with the introduction of a new fertilizer: Scotts Turf Builder Water Smart.
“We know homeowners are hearing conflicting messages about lawns and the environment and now is the time for us to educate them on the benefits of lawns and water conservation,” said Rich Shank, Scotts’ chief environmental officer. “Healthy lawns are good for the environment and as the authority on lawn care, we take seriously our responsibility to provide people with the tools and information they need to grow healthy lawns.”
Scotts teamed up with the community improvement campaign Keep America Beautiful and lawn-care expert David R. Mellor to spread the word about the benefits of lawns. The company also encouraged consumers to go online to view water-saving tips and sign Scotts Water Smart pledge.
