Syngenta now accepting applications for inaugural year of vegetable seed grant

Syngenta has established a Grow More Vegetables Seed Grant Program, which will provide annual assistance to schools and community organizations interested in establishing or enhancing garden programs that create opportunities to educate local communities on the benefits of fresh vegetable production and consumption. Applications for the 2013 grants are being accepted now through Sept. 15, 2013, at midnight.
 
In the program’s inaugural year, three recipients, one from each category, will be awarded a garden package. The three categories are elementary and middle school programs; high school programs and FFA chapters; and community groups and organizations. 

“The Grow More Vegetables Grant Program gives us an excellent opportunity to share vegetable production knowledge and resources with the broader community and encourage the adoption of healthy eating habits through the consumption of fresh vegetables,” said Mary Streett DeMers, Syngenta vegetables communications lead. “We look forward to awarding our first recipients this fall and assisting them in the establishment of sustainable garden programs that provide hands-on agricultural experience and educational opportunities to local communities.”
